The exercise is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
The Coast Guard is partnering with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, and other tribal, state, and local partners to coordinate response strategies, objectives and priorities during complex maritime incidents.
This exercise is part of a yearly effort called the Preparedness for Response Exercise Program and is designed to meet exercise requirements set forth in the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.
The public can expect to see responders involved in this exercise on the Grand River. While it is not an emergent situation, the public is asked to not be alarmed about the influx of emergency personnel and equipment.
